Learn Spanish in Utila
Utila is one of the smallest islands in the Bay Island group, and is best known for the excellent opportunities for scuba diving and snorkeling off the shores of the island. The Spanish language schools in Utila are a great reason to come to the area, but the beauty of the tropical paradise will amaze both students and visitors alike. Students at the Spanish language schools in Utila will be surprised at the size of the island - it's only eleven by four kilometers and is easy to tour in a day. The major area for city living and hotels is Eastern Harbor, a small town of about 2,500 people. It's possible to walk from the beach at one end of the town to the beach on the other side of town in less than a half hour, provided you don’t stop for a cold drink, and excellent meal, or to look into one of the shops along the way. Traditional artwork, jewelry and items from the sea are sold very reasonably in the shops and make wonderful mementos and gifts. If you wish to spend the day all by yourself on your own island, it's possible to rent a water taxi to take you to one of the small islands located on the south west side of the island. These Cays are actually privately owned but are open for public use. These small islands, some only 100 feet across, are a perfect way to spend the day relaxing on a sunny beach and snorkeling through and around the barrier reef. There are actually 60 different sites to scuba dive and snorkel from, with ancient sunken ships and underwater caves to explore. Guided tours are available, as are equipment rentals and even lessons. Many of the students attending Spanish language schools in Utila use their spare time to get their scuba certification and enjoy diving the waters off the island.
The island itself has lush forests in the central part of the island and wonderful beaches shaded by huge palm trees for any students at the Spanish language schools in Utila that enjoy the beach life. All the hotels and restaurants in the area are locally owned, so hospitality is a number one priority on the island. The goal of the local merchants is to keep tourists returning, and they work very hard to keep the island a wonderful place to relax and unwind after the bustle of the more modern centers.
