In Queretaro the people speak mostly Spanish, although English, French, Italian and German may also be overheard in conversations.

The city of Santiago de Queretaro, or Queretaro as it is called by locals, is an interesting mixture of Spanish and Native Indian cultures. If you come to learn Spanish in Queretaro, you will soon see that the architecture is European, with many churches, palaces and government buildings still standing that were built by the Spanish in the years 1500-1600. The strong Jesuit influence is found in the monasteries and massive Cathedrals that were built in the city center plaza. In and around Queretaro there are amazing monuments to the arts and culture of times long past. One of these remaining accomplishments is the 74-stone arches of the Aqueduct, designed to originally bring water into the city. The Aqueduct was built in 1726 though 1735. The Maths Museum and the Arts Museum are worth a full day trip each to browse through and enjoy the amazing displays of both historical and modern arts and artifacts.
