Spanish Language Schools in Honduras

The staff of Central American Spanish School (CASS) consists of select "maestros" (master professors) who are graduates of Honduran universities. Our Spanish programs are popular with business and medical professionals, engineers and research scientists, seeking accelerated and special vocabulary classes. Some students want a better understanding of Spanish to enable them to explore Honduras and other Latin American countries with greater independence.

Free written and oral evaluations are given to each student before he or she begins classes. These evaluations given periodically determine the student's individualized skill level and requirements. The student is matched with his personal master instructor, and a lesson plan is engineered to meet the student's goals. Under the director's guidance each professor is personally responsible for the rapid progress of the instructor's assigned student.

A family atmosphere is maintained among the students and all staff members. A new student feels an immediate camaraderie with the staff and other students. The staff is available 7 days per week to help the student.

Maintaining this family atmosphere and individualized "one on one" instruction reduces the "culture shock" significantly and assures that the student is comfortable in the culture and can proceed immediately with the rapid absorption of the Spanish language.

Utila

Honduras, mostly rural and with 3 distinct cultures and languages, shares borders with El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, the Pacific Ocean, and 800 km of Caribbean Coast including some of the most pristine beaches in the world.

Students can travel economically and safely on the paved highway system and the prolific bus system.

Central American Spanish School has two campuses in Honduras - La Ceiba, Roatan and Utila. Students can study in one, both, or all three of the campuses.

Utila is the smallest of a string of islands known as The Bay Islands with a low cost of living and a wonderful lifestyle. Utila is world famous for its fantastic reef and as one of the most economical places to get a diving certification.

CASS Utila

The Utila campus is located near all forms of transportation including airplanes and boats from the mainland. The classroom building is in a new, air-conditioned, two-story, wooden building.

Activities

Just like the private lessons, activities are also custom designed to meet the student's needs, interests, and available time. Teachers in the school accompany the students for field trips to the beach and/or indigenous villages, mountain hiking, waterfall bathing, etc. Students pay only for travel costs (minimal in Honduras), and food. The school also assists students in acquiring volunteer activities in the community.

The school will assist the student in acquiring activities available through outside sources including scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, visits to the Bay Islands by boat, white water rafting, botanical garden, etc.

However, by far the most popular activity in Utila is scuba diving, which boasts some of the best and least expensive diving on the entire Earth, especially if you are interested in seeing a whale shark, experience wall diving, or see over 95% of all Caribbean corals in one intellectual adventure.

College Credit

Central American Spanish School, in collaboration with US universities, can assist you with obtaining credit for your classes. Students desiring credit for their study should contact their home school first. Generally, U.S. universities consider 15 hours of study to equal 1 semester credit.
