Learn Spanish in Antigua Guatemala

Studying language in one of the Spanish schools in Antigua is a terrific way to see a very beautiful and unique part of another country, as well as become proficient in a second language. The area around Antigua is amazingly lovely and diverse, and it is well worth exploring this wild and natural landscape around the city. Antigua is located between three volcanoes: the Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango guard over the city and make a dramatic background for pictures.

The city of Antigua is largely reflective of a traditional colonial city. Many of the same types of buildings, churches and even streets and shops can be seen in Antigua that could have also been seen in the colonial period in Europe. Many visitors, and students at the different Spanish schools in Antigua, feel that they have stepped back in time, and Antigua merchants and citizens work to preserve this atmosphere. In keeping with the colonial theme, there are many different galleries, theatres and other venues to observe local, national and international artists and their work. There are numerous monasteries, churches and cathedrals to visit and tour, as well as several museums and monuments. Central Park and the various Mercados (markets) give shoppers something to look forward to.

Hiking, horseback riding, swimming and boating are all offered on the lake. A trip to one of the volcanoes around Antigua makes a good day trip - if necessary a guide can be hired to take you on the various trails, but it is also possible to hike individually.

The evenings are full of fine dining and entertainment.
