For those that enjoy the outdoors, the Lago Atitlan provides breathtaking scenery as well as a chance to see wildlife in its natural habitat. There are many small villages around the lake and attending one of the many local festivals is a wonderful way to practice the language taught in the Spanish schools in Antigua. Hiking, horseback riding, swimming and boating are all offered on the lake. A trip to one of the volcanoes around Antigua makes a good day trip - if necessary a guide can be hired to take you on the various trails, but it is also possible to hike individually.

The evenings are full of fine dining and entertainment. There are many restaurants in Antigua and they feature both traditional and international dishes, and there are bars, clubs and cultural events to keep you busy and entertained.
